  FAQ

1. When I upgrade to a "speakingwebpage", do I have to get my own Website redesigned?
No. The audio file simply bolts on to your existing site. If you want to give visitors the option to control the sound you can add stop / start buttons (images linked to the sound file) if required. We will include the ‘button images’ when we deliver your recording.

2. Will having a sound file on a web page affect the time it takes to load for a web page to load?
No. The sound file is a streaming audio format. This means that the sound will be heard as soon as the listeners PC identify the start of the audio file.

3. I cannot hear any sound, what is wrong?
Firstly you need to double check that your speakers have not been switched off or the volume turned down. The sound file uses the free Macromedia Flash player, which is installed by default with your Windows operating system. On Macintosh PC's or on PC's that are using a non-microsoft web browser visitors may have to install flash when they first view your site if they have not done before however most visitors will have already done this when they have visited one of the millions of other flash sites around today.
Some computers are connected via a proxy server and this may have been set up to prevent users listening to audio over the Internet. Firewalls and other corporate security devices may prevent certain types of images, programs and media content from reaching your PC. Speak to your system administrator.

4. What is to stop the audio feed repeatedly stopping and starting if there is a less than perfect Internet connection?
This should not happen because the sound file is buffered when it arrives at the users PC. This means the computer builds up a ‘mini reserve of sound file’ to smooth out any interruptions of streaming data. In extreme cases of poor connectivity interruptions can occur, but this is very rare and generally this should not happen. "speakingwebpages" sound files are stored on our high performance streaming server. This means that the performance is not reliant on the performance of your hosting company as speeds vary greatly.

5. Why should I get my recordings from "speakingwebpage" and not any other company that says they can produce recordings?
Our engineers work with the worlds best voice talent and we have spent almost 2 years developing this, the original "speakingwebpage". The sound file starts life as a digital audio file of the highest quality, then it goes through a unique 8 stage filtering process which preserves the main elements in the sound file, which are important to delivering the best possible quality recording.

6. What formats can the audio file be supplied in?
By default we supply your recording as a ‘Flash’ streaming audio file called an ‘swf’. If you prefer, simply tell us the digital audio format you need when you place your order. We provide total compatibility with all online multimedia applications.

7. What if I want to keep updating the recording?
No Problem, simply copy and paste the file over the old one on your server. Additionally we offer a discounted rate, please contact us

8. Can I use more than one voice on my site – in ‘conversation’ mode?
Yes, It sounds great and allows more creativity. It may be free of charge however depending on the actor we may make a small charge, if so you can expect to add 50% to standard rate.
If you have any further questions please contact us to discuss your ideas
